General Rental Information
 
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license for at least 2 years.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving license.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.
Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 24 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of 22.00 USD. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
 
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations can be made directly through your booking agent.
 
No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
 
Age Restrictions
 
In St. Martin, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's licence:
21 years for vehicles in groups MCAR, ECAR and CCAR
25 years for vehicles in groups CDAR, CTAR, IDAR, SDAR, FDAR, SFAR, FFAR, PFAR, FVAR.
A Young Driver Surcharge of USD 7.44per day applies for drivers under 25 years.

Flexi-Tariff
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa.
Cash Payment is not accepted.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
 
Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: Eurocard/Mastercard, AmericanExpress Card, VISA Card.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
 
Generally
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.
 
General Protection Conditions
 
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of 10,000.00 USD for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
 
Liability coverage/Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
If purchased Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) protects you against claims made by a third party for -bodily injury- and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while you are operating a -rental vehicle-.
This coverage removes any financial liability caused as a result of third party damage. The deductible is 0.00 USD.
Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a -rental vehicle-. SLI does not cover all risks. There may be exclusions for unauthorized or intoxicated drivers, no first party uninsured motorist coverage, no coverage for certain passengers in the Vehicle, and other exclusions.
 
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Collision Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage.
If CDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.
If CDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 
groups MCAR, ECAR, CCAR, CDAR, CTAR, IDAR 1000.00 USD
groups SDAR, SFAR, FDAR, PFAR, FFAR 1600.00 USD
groups FVAR 2000.00 USD
 
Top Cover CDW
If CDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover CDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

Theft Protection removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft.

Refuelling Charge
 
All vehilces are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise our current refuelling charges will apply.
Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price of 1.33 USD per litre of petrol and return the car empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.
 
Other Fees and Taxes
 
Vehicle Cleaning
In case the car require a special cleaning procedure (i.e. animal hair, sand etc) after returning, a charge of 31.90 USD will apply.
 
Administration Fee For Fine
If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee of 28.71 USD together with the first settlement-proposition.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
